Paulo Celso Dias do Nascimento

Paulo Celso Dias do Nascimento (born April 14, 1963 in Lagarto , Sergipe , Brazil ) is a Brazilian clergyman and Roman Catholic auxiliary bishop of Rio de Janeiro .

Life

Paulo Celso Dias do Nascimento studied philosophy at the ecclesiastical philosophy faculty in Rio de Janeiro and at the Universidade Estadual do Ceará and Catholic theology at the Universidade Católica do Salvador . On May 13, 1989, he received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Estância .

After years in pastoral care, he began studying canon law at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro in 1997 , where he obtained a licentiate in this subject. He also took courses in psychology. He then worked again in parish and hospital pastoral care. In 2012 he was incardinated in the clergy of the Archdiocese of Rio de Janeiro . Until his appointment as auxiliary bishop, he was hospital chaplain and coordinator of the pastoral care of the sick in the archdiocese.

On 27 October 2017 it appointed Pope Francis to the titular bishop of Aguntum and auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Sao Sebastiao do Rio de Janeiro . The Archbishop of Rio de Janeiro, Cardinal Orani João Tempesta OCist , donated him episcopal ordination on January 6, 2018 ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Aracaju , João José da Costa OCarm , and the Bishop of Campina Grande , Dulcênio Fontes de Matos .
