Paulus Volk (born March 3, 1889 in Hagenau , † 1976 in Maria Laach ) was a German Benedictine (OSB) and church historian .

Life

He attended high schools in Haguenau and Strasbourg . In 1909 he entered the Maria Laach Abbey and made his first profession in 1911 . While studying theology in Beuron in 1915, he was called up for military service in a Heidelberg military hospital. After his ordination in 1917 he studied at the University of Heidelberg with Karl Ludwig Hampe , Hermann Oncken , Alexander Cartellieri and Otto Gradenwitz and from 1919 in Bonn with Aloys Schulte , Wilhelm Levison , Heinrich Schrörs , Albert Ehrhard and Albert Michael Koeniger .
