Paxton Jones Pomykal (* 17th December 1999 in Lewisville , Texas ) is an American football player who in the MLS - Franchise FC Dallas has a contract. The midfielder has been a senior international since September 2019 .

Career

Pomykal is a product of the youth department of FC Dallas and could therefore be used as Homegrown Player on September 8, 2016 his first professional contract with MLS - Franchise sign. He made his debut on March 1, 2017 in the 1: 2 away defeat against the Panamanian CD Árabe Unido in the quarter-finals of the CONCACAF Champions League 2016/17 , in which he was substituted on for Kellyn Acosta in the 63rd minute . In Major League Soccer he made his debut ten days later in a 0-0 draw against Sporting Kansas City . In the next two years he was only sporadic for the first team of the Toros and only made his breakthrough in the starting lineup in the 2019 season . On March 31, 2019 (5th matchday), he scored his first two goals for FC Dallas in a 4-2 away win against Real Salt Lake . On July 31, 2019, he took part in the MLS All-Star Game for the first time, where he lost 3-0 to Atlético Madrid with the MLS national team . Pomykal ended the 2019 game year with two goals in 34 league games.

National team

In March 2016, Paxton Pomykal received his first nomination for the US U-18 national team . In August he won the Václav Ježek tournament in the Czech Republic with this selection and scored a goal in the 4-2 final victory over the hosts . In the same year he played for the U19 and continued to work for the U18 until 2017.

He made his debut for the U20 in May 2018 against Honduras . At the 2018 CONCACAF U-20 Championship , he was on the pitch in all eight games in the USA and scored three goals. The final was won 2-0 against Mexico .

On September 11, 2019, he made his debut in a friendly international match against Uruguay for the senior team when he was substituted on for Jordan Morris in the closing stages .
