Paxton Whitehead

Francis Edward Paxton Whitehead (born October 17, 1937 in East Malling , Kent , England ) is a British film and theater actor and theater director .

Life

Paxton Whitehead began training at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London at the age of 17 . This was followed by first appearances at the theater from 1956. From 1958 he was a member of the theater company of the Royal Shakespeare Company .

He later performed in Canada and the United States and made his Broadway debut in 1962 with his role in The Affair at the Henry Miller's Theater . From 1962 to 1964 he appeared in a national theater tour in the play Beyond the Fringe . He worked for the American Shakespeare Company and was the successor to Barry Morse as artistic director of the Shaw Festival from 1967 to 1977 . In this role he also staged various plays as a director.

From the mid-1970s he appeared as an actor on television. In 1986 he made his first film appearance in Jumpin 'Jack Flash . That same year he was in Mach's again, Dad in the role of Dr. See Phillip Barbay . This was followed by a longer engagement for the television series Marblehead Manor .

In addition to his appearances in film and television, he also appeared again in various theater productions until 2011.

Whitehead's 1971 marriage to actress Patricia Gage ended in divorce in 1986. His second marriage to Katherine Jane Robertson in 1987 resulted in two children.
