Pedro Massa

Pedro Massa SDB (born June 29, 1880 in Cornigliano ; † September 15, 1968 ) was an Italian religious , Roman Catholic bishop and prelate of Rio Negro in Brazil.

Life

Pedro Massa joined the religious order of the Salesians of Don Bosco in and received on 15 January 1905, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

Pope Pius XI appointed him on July 25, 1925 as Apostolic Administrator of the newly established territorial prelature Porto Velho .

Pope Pius XII appointed him on April 5, 1941 as the first prelate of the territorial prelature of Rio Negro, established in 1925, and titular bishop of Hebron . The Apostolic Nuncio in Brazil, Archbishop Benedetto Aloisi Masella , donated him episcopal ordination on May 1st of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Helvécio Gomes de Oliveira SDB, Archbishop of Mariana , and Henrique César Fernandes Mourão SDB, Bishop of Cafelândia .

On October 1, 1946, his duties as Apostolic Administrator of Porto Velho ended with the appointment of João Batista Costas SDB as first prelate. Pedro Massa attended the first session of the Second Vatican Council as a council father . On June 13, 1967, Pope Paul VI. his age-related retirement.
