Henrique César Fernandes Mourão

Henrique César Fernandes Mourão SDB (born November 22, 1877 in Rio de Janeiro , † March 30, 1945 in São Paulo ) was a Brazilian religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Cafelândia .

Life

Fernandes Mourão decided to become a Salesian of Don Bosco . After the novitiate , the first religious vows and the study of philosophy and theology, he received on 30 November 1901 by the Archbishop of Mariana , Silvério Gomes Pimenta , the ordination .

Within the religious community he was, among other things, director of the Liceu Coração de Jesus in São Paulo.

In 1924 he was appointed Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Campos , which had been founded in 1922 . On May 1, 1925, Pope Pius XI appointed him . first diocesan bishop of Campos. The Apostolic Nuncio in Brazil, Archbishop Enrico Gasparri , donated him episcopal ordination on October 18 of the same year. Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Goiás , Emanuel Gomes de Oliveira SDB, and the Bishop of Espírito Santo , Benedito Paulo Alves de Souza .

On December 16, 1935, he was appointed Bishop of Cafelândia and on March 10, 1936 , he was appointed to the office. There he built the Colégio Salesiano , the Escola Normal Nossa Senhora Auxiliadora and the Nossa Senhora do Rosário seminary . He also brought other Salesians from Don Bosco to this large diocese.

After he died in the sanatorium of Santa Catarina in São Paulo, he was buried in the co-cathedral of Cafelândia.
