Pedro Eugenio de Felipe Cortés (born July 18, 1944 in Madrid ; † April 12, 2016 there ) was a Spanish football player . He was particularly successful in the Real Madrid jersey , with which he won the European Cup in 1965/66 as well as a total of five championships and once the Copa del Rey .

Career

Pedro de Felipe was born in 1944 in the Spanish capital Madrid. Since his youth he played for the current Spanish record champions Real Madrid, where he was granted admission to the first league team in 1964 at the age of twenty. From then on, Felipe played in 126 league games for the royal team until 1972 , but the defender did not succeed in scoring during this time. Felipe secured a regular place in the Real team relatively quickly, which was in the midst of upheaval after the great era of the White Ballet in the 1950s. In his first season as a player in the team of coach Miguel Muñoz , he managed to defend his title in the Spanish championship. The Primera División 1964/65 ended in first place with a lead of four points on the first rival Atlético Madrid . With this success Real Madrid was also qualified for the European Cup of National Champions 1965/66 . After successes over Feyenoord Rotterdam from the Netherlands , FC Kilmarnock from Scotland , RSC Anderlecht from Belgium and defending champion Inter Milan from Italy , they penetrated into the final, where Partizan Belgrade from Yugoslavia waited as an opponent . At the Heysel Stadium in Brussels , Real Madrid and Pedro de Felipe defeated the Yugoslavs 2-0 with goals from Amancio and Francisco Serena and won this competition for the sixth time. A little later you lost in the game for the World Cup to the Uruguayan representative and winner of the Copa Libertadores 1965 , Peñarol Montevideo .

While the success of the 1965/66 season could no longer be matched internationally, Pedro de Felipe won several championship titles with Real Madrid in his career. After Atlético became champions in 1965/66, the title went back to Real Madrid the following season. The gap to the first rival FC Barcelona was five points this time. With three points in front of this opponent succeeded in the season 1967/68 the title defense. Another year later, Real Madrid managed to defend their title for the second time in a row with a first place in the Primera División , nine points ahead of the surprise runner-up UD Las Palmas . While they finished the 1969/70 season in the league only in fifth place and thus achieved the worst result in a long time, the cup achieved their first title win in eight years. In the final of the Copa del Rey in 1969/70 was Valencia 3: defeated first Until he left Madrid in 1972, Pedro de Felipe won another championship. In the 1971/72 season they were first with two points ahead of Valencia, whereby Pedro de Felipe said goodbye to Real Madrid with a championship title.

The rest of his career spent the defender at Espanyol Barcelona , where he made 122 league games until 1978. However, he could not build on the successes from Real times at the smaller of the two big Barcelona clubs. More than the relegation in the Primera División succeeded in none of the six seasons that Pedro de Felipe spent at Espanyol Barcelona. In the summer of 1978, the defender ended his career as an active soccer player at the age of 34.

In 1973 Pedro de Felipe came as a player from Espanyol Barcelona to his first and only international match for the Spanish national soccer team . In Istanbul , the Spanish team separated from Turkey with a goalless draw .
