Pępowo ( German Pempowo , 1939-1945 Waldeneck ) is a village and seat of the rural municipality of the same name in Poland . The place is located in the powiat Gostyński of the Greater Poland Voivodeship .
history
Pępowo was first mentioned in writing in 1136, when the village belonged to the Bishop of Gniezno . The first St. Andrew's Church was probably built at this time.
1815-1848 Pępowo belonged to the Grand Duchy of Poznan . According to the 1837 census, the village had 164 inhabitants who lived in 20 houses. In 1876 the property was sold to Adolph Hansemann , the father of Ferdinand Hansemann , who founded the Ostmarkenverein together with Hermann Kennemann and Heinrich von Tiedemann . Until the end of the Second World War , Pępowo was owned by the Oertzen family .
1975–1988 Pępowo belonged to the Leszno Voivodeship .
