Peru is a city in the US state of Indiana . It is also the county seat of Miami County .
At the last census in 2010 it had a population of 11,417.
history
Peru was founded in 1834 by Jason C. Smith. The Model Gas Engine Works settled in Peru in the early 20th century, but could not hold on. Peru lies on the Wabash River .
Circus Capital of the World
Peru is often referred to as the world circus capital. Many well-known circuses wintered in quarters in and around Peru. The Circus Hall of Fame is based in Peru.
