Professional career

The Cologne city hall (side view) and Kölnarena

Peter Böhm studied architecture at the Technical University in Berlin from 1975 to 1985. He got his first job in the Berlin office of Otto Steidle (1985–1986). During a short stay in the USA, he worked in the McKinnell + Wood office in Boston. After his return in 1987, he founded an office with Friedrich Steinigeweg in Cologne. One year after his older brother Stephan Böhm, he joined his father's architectural office as a partner in 1990.

Peter Böhm sees himself in the tradition of this architectural office Böhms founded in 1921, which his father took over in 1954. After some notable buildings like the Kölnarena and the Kölner Stadthaus, he started his own business in 2002. The office faces a wide variety of tasks, as there are large projects such as town halls, halls and museums, but also large and small residential and office buildings as well as modernizations. Since 2015 Peter Böhm has been a professor in the field of “Building and Designing with Solid Building Materials (Bricks and Concrete)” at Trier University of Applied Sciences.

It is worth mentioning that he participated twice in the Venice Biennale in 1992 and 2001.
