Peter Christoph von Wopersnow
Peter Christoph von Wopersnow , also Wobersnow (* 1712 ; † June 23, 1760 in front of Landshut ) was a Prussian major , battalion commander and knight of the Pour le Mérite order .
Life
family
Peter Christoph came from the Pomeranian noble family von Wopersnow . Nothing is known about a wife or children.
career
Wopersnow was born in Pomerania and began his career as a junker in the Grumbkow infantry regiment , where he was promoted to secondary lieutenant in 1740 . After participating in the first two Silesian Wars , he began the Seven Years' War with the rank of captain . Wopersnow had already received the Pour le Mérite in November 1756 .
In 1760 he was appointed as the successor to Colonel Wilhelm Heinrich von der Tann as battalion commander of the grenadier battalion . However, he only held the position for a short time: he died on June 27, 1760 in the battle of Landeshut , where he fought with his grenadiers "with indescribable bravery".
