Peter Fraser, Baron Fraser of Carmyllie

Peter Lovat Fraser, Baron Fraser of Carmyllie PC QC ( May 29, 1945 - June 22, 2013 ) was a British lawyer and politician of the Conservative Party who was a Member of the House of Commons and Solicitor General of Scotland for several years and since 1989 as a life peer member of the House of Lords .

Life

After visiting the Loretto School graduated Fraser studying law at Gonville and Caius College of the University of Cambridge and the University of Edinburgh . After completing his studies, he took up a position as a litigator ( advocate ) in 1969 . In addition to this activity, he was lecturer for constitutional law at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh between 1972 and 1974 and ran for a seat in the House of Commons in the general election on October 10, 1974 in the constituency of Aberdeen North without success . In 1976 he was chairman of the Scottish Conservative Lawyers Reform Group for some time .

After serving as Junior Junior Legal Advisor for Scotland in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office for a short period in 1979, he was first elected to the House of Commons for the Conservative Tories in the elections on May 3, 1979 , initially representing the constituency of Angus South and the Connection since the elections of June 9, 1983 to the elections on June 11, 1987, the constituency of Angus East .

In 1981 he took over his first government office and was Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Minister for Scotland, George Younger , until 1982 . By a letters patent dated February 10, 1989, Fraser, who also became Privy Councilor in 1989, was raised to the nobility as a life peer with the title Baron Fraser of Carmyllie , of Carmyllie in the District of Angus .
