Peter Gritti (* around 1602 in Zuoz ; † around 1674 in Sinsheim ) was a Swiss Reformed pastor .

Life

Peter Gritti was born in Zuoz in Graubünden around 1602 . Around 1619/1620 he studied at the University of Zurich and enrolled at the University of Basel in 1620 , where he stayed until 1625. In March of this year he held a disputation on both theology and philosophy in Basel . On June 15, 1628, due to the turmoil in Graubünden, he was admitted to the Evangelical-Rhaetian Synod too late . Then he became a pastor in Alterswilen .

In 1632 he moved to Schuders , and two years later he went to Schiers and was pastor there. Due to a lack of pastors, he was probably also partly active in the parishes in Furna , Grüsch and Igis between 1634 and 1639 . In 1649 Gritti moved to the Electoral Palatinate and took over a pastorate in Lindenfels . Since many Swiss lived in the area, Gritti tried to organize a Graubünden colony in Odenwald . However, the plan was never implemented, especially as the government had not commented positively on it.

In 1654 Gritti moved to Mussbach, but the following year he returned to Lindenfels. In 1658, Gritti publicly complained about insults based on rumors that he was an Baptist . But in 1662 he was elected as pastor and church inspector in Sinsheim. The files about him in Sinsheim were destroyed by the French on August 8, 1689, the files only start again in 1696. That is the reason why little is known about his work in Sinsheim. The only thing that is certain is that he died there around 1674.
