Peter Jaskola (born May 22, 1952 in Jemielnica ) is a Polish Roman Catholic priest and professor of theology at the University of Opole .

Jaskola's areas of expertise are ecumenism , dogmatics and evangelical theology . He is also director of the Institute for Ecumenical and Integration Research at the University of Opole and a member of the Committee of Theological Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw .

Life

Peter Jaskola comes from a simple German family. His father was a factory worker and his mother a housewife. After eight years of elementary school, he went to high school and graduated from high school . After studying philosophy and theology for six years in Neisse , he was ordained a priest .

After a year as vicar in Racibórz , the bishop of the diocese of Opole Franciszek Jop sent him to study ecumenical theology at the Catholic University of Lublin , which he completed with a doctorate on the subject of "Christology by John AT Robinson ".

After a year as a pastor in a parish near Gliwice , as a young research assistant, he went to Lublin to serve as an assistant to the director of the first ecumenical institute established in Poland, Bishop Alfons Nossol, until 2000. At the same time he gave regular lectures in the seminaries in Opole and Neisse . In 1995 he completed his habilitation with the work “ Holy Spirit in the Scriptures of John Calvin ”. When a university with theological faculty was founded in Opole, he moved there and is still active at the University of Opole today.

Jaskola's outstanding expertise on Protestant theology in relation to Calvin in the form of a collection of scientific articles has been declared "Book of the Year 2017" in the field of theology by the Polish Academy of Sciences .

Others

Since the summer of 1993, Peter Jaskola has been representing the pastor of the Catholic parish of St. Egidius Obertiefenbach for a few weeks every year . He is particularly closely associated with the local Catholic men's work, the home parlor Beselich-Obertiefenbach and the church choir.
