Peter Karl Jehle (born January 22, 1982 in Grabs , Switzerland ) is a former Liechtenstein football player .

Early years

Peter Jehle began his football career at the age of four with FC Schaan . After going through all the junior areas up to the C-Juniors, he was accepted into the national team of the Liechtenstein Football Association. There he also went through all stations and was finally appointed to the Liechtenstein national football team.

Club career

In 2000 Jehle signed his first professional contract with the Swiss record champions, the Grasshopper Club Zurich . There he made his National League A debut in Zurich on July 29, 2000 , after his goalkeeper colleague Stefan Huber saw the red card shortly before the end of the game after a foul. Jehle then parried the penalty and made an optimal debut at his club. In the 2000/01 season Jehle won the championship title with his club, which was repeated in the 2002/03 season.

After six years as a professional in Zurich , Jehle moved to the Portuguese club Boavista Porto on June 10, 2006 . After playing there for two years and working his way up to number 1, a corruption scandal overshadowed the club. An old story before Jehle's time forced the club to be relegated to the second highest division. Due to a contractual clause, he was able to leave the club to France for Tours FC and played there in Ligue 2 in the 2008/09 season . In 2009 he moved back to his native Liechtenstein, where he played for FC Vaduz . In February 2013 he signed a contract with FC Luzern after their substitute keeper Gabriel Wüthrich was out due to a concussion .

National team

At the age of 16, Jehle made his national team debut on October 14, 1998. In the game against Azerbaijan , he made his debut in Liechtenstein's first win (2-1) in a FIFA / UEFA qualifier. Since then he has been the goalkeeper of the Liechtenstein national team. On August 14, 2013 he made his 100th international match in a 3-2 draw against Croatia as the third Liechtenstein player .
