Peter Jordan (agronomist)
Peter Jordan (born February 2, 1751 in Sellrain , Tyrol ; † July 6, 1827 in Vienna ) was an Austrian agricultural scientist .
Peter Jordan, who studied medicine and natural sciences at the Universities of Göttingen and Vienna , taught professor for general natural history in Vienna from 1783. His merits lie in the scientific examination of agriculture as the first in the Habsburg monarchy . He also held lectures on the subject for the first time. From 1806 he was appointed director of the imperial estates in Vösendorf and Laxenburg . He was particularly concerned with raising cattle and developing agricultural implements.
In Vienna he joined the Illuminati Order and the Freemasons' League in the lodges for true unity and truth .
Peter-Jordan-Strasse in Vienna- Döbling has been named in his honor since 1904 , where part of the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences is also located.
