from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Peter Joseph du Plat (* 14. March 1728 in Löhrstorf ; † 24. April 1782 in Uthlede ) was a kurhannoverscher cartographer and dikemaster .

Life

He came from the French noble family du Plat , whose first representative in Germany from 1697 was his grandfather Pierre Joseph du Plat (1657–1709), the progenitor of the Hanoverian line. Members of this German line again entered royal Danish and British services. Plat was the son of the Hanoverian officer and cartographer Pierre Joseph du Plat (1691-1753) and the Löhrstorf estate manager's daughter Engel Justina Janus (1700- ??). His older brother Lieutenant General Georg Josua du Plat (1722–1795) and his two younger brothers Lieutenant General Johann Wilhelm du Plat (1735–1806) and Lieutenant General Anton Heinrich du Plat (1738–1791) were all like him cartographers from the Elector of Hanover. He was baptized on March 18, 1728 in the church in Neukirchen .

Plat was initially a chamber conductor (cartographer) from the Hanover region, later chief dichgrave in Aumund for the Vegesack area in the Duchy of Bremen .

Plat married on July 29, 1759 in Jork Anna Dorothea Feind (t) (born January 22, 1738 in Jork; † March 23, 1811 ibid). From this marriage came the four sons Peter Joseph (1761-1824), royal Hanover major general, the Elector of Hanover Lieutenant Ernst Friedrich (1767-1794), Johann Heinrich (1769-1852), royal Danish major general and cartographer , and the royal Danish major general Christian Claude (1770–1841) and their two daughters Anna Dorothea Helena (1773–1845) and Bernhardine Antoinette du Plat (1774– ??).

Individual evidence

  1. In Gotha B 1932 April 15, 1728 is mentioned as the birthday, but this contradicts the baptism entry of March 18.
