Life and family

In 1703 Peter Kollmann married Gertrud Reitz, who was a daughter of the Trier judge Reitz. In 1715, P. Kollmann himself was appointed bailiff in Ernst on the Moselle. His son Bartholomäus (* 1715, † 1731 Ernst) became Sendschöffe and in 1730 married Anna Margaret Göbel from Valwig with whom he had 5 children. One of these children was the Ernst born son Johann Kollmann (1751-1804), who initially worked as a winemaker and community leader before he went to Klotten in 1779 and married Maria Margret Loosen there. In the following year 1780 he was enfeoffed with part of a slate quarry in Laubach and Leienkaul, which later became known as the so-called Kollmann spfründe . His son Peter Josef Kollmann (born May 24, 1854) married Anna Müller, who came from Reil, on May 20, 1814, and their son Jakob Kollmann (1821-1893) also owned slate pits and wineries. Jakob Kollmann married in Klotten with Margareta Traut from Klüsserath (1822-1886) who was born in Ensch on the Moselle. Due to the numerous activities of his grandchildren in the mining and trading of the Eifel slate, Peter Kollmann was referred to as the progenitor of the Klotten slate dynasty . Another son of Peter Kollmann was Matthias Joseph Kollmann (* 1703 Ernst, † before 1757 in Boppard ) who joined a Franciscan order and became a priest , abbot and head of the monastery , his name was Father Theodosius.
