Peter Pan ( Japanese ピ ー タ ー パ ン の 冒 険 , Pītā Pan no Bōken ) is an anime series by the Japanese studio Nippon Animation from 1989. It is a film adaptation of the most famous work by Scottish author J. M. Barrie and belongs to the World Masterpiece Theater series . The television series has been translated into several languages, including German. The English version was also known as Peter Pan and Wendy .

Wendy, who doesn't want to grow up, travels to Neverland with her two little brothers and with Peter Pan. There they experience adventures and have to fight the pirate Captain Hook , an evil wizard and the darkness itself.

Production and publication

The series was produced at Nippon Animation and directed by Takashi Nakamura , Fumio Kurokawa , Kozo Kusuba and Yoshio Kuroda , with Koichi Motohashi and Shigeo Endo as producers . The scripts were written by Michiru Shimada and Shun'ichi Yukimuro . The character design was created by Takashi Nakamura and the artistic direction was with Masamichi Takano .

The anime series was first shown on January 15 through December 24, 1989 by Fuji TV in Japan. The first broadcast in Germany began on January 25, 1992 on RTLplus and ran until November 7, 1992. This was followed by other broadcasts, mostly on RTL 2 , Das Erste and Kinderkanal . It was also broadcast in France, Italy, Spain, Mexico, Brazil, Poland, Sweden, Finland, Israel and the Philippines. In Great Britain a summary of the first three episodes was published in English translation.

The music for the series was composed by Toshiyuki Watanabe and Yoshimasa Inoue . Yuuyu wrote the opening song Mōichido Peter Pan and the closing title Yume yo Hirake Goma! . The UK version contains new music by Haim Saban and Shuki Levy .

Publications

In Germany, 5 MC radio play cassettes with the first 10 episodes of the series and 10 episodes on VHS were released after the first broadcast. So far the first 6 episodes have been released on DVD.

Inside the mirror, Wendy finally succeeds in freeing Luna from the black power, whereupon the darkness around her begins to dissolve and her whereabouts are transformed into a white mirror. All of the light manages to defeat all the dark forces, just as the landscapes and nature are restored in all of no man's land, the battlefield forms a white castle and everything that Hook could do evil with the scepter disappears. Now Luna is the good Queen of Light and there is peace in all of no man's land. Peter decides to bring the Darlings back home because he thinks it will be too quiet for a while. Before he even leaves the three of them in London, he promises to pick them up again as soon as the next adventure is about to begin. A little time goes by, but Peter doesn't come. Eventually, Wendy stops keeping the window open until she grows up. The girl that Peter finds in the nursery he knows after a long time is someone other than Wendy. Your daughter, Jane. Peter and Bell have a new companion who will travel with them to no man's land for a while. More years go by ...
