Peter Theiner

Peter Theiner (* 1951 ) is a German historian and foundation manager .

Life

Peter Theiner attended elementary school in Solingen and passed his matriculation examination at the Schwertstraße high school in Solingen in 1970 . After his military service in the Federal Air Force (most recently: Lieutenant) he studied history, Romance studies, philosophy, sociology and educational science at the Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf (HHU), the Université Dijon and, with a scholarship from the French Embassy, from 1972 to 1978 the Université de la Sorbonne Nouvelle in Paris . In 1978 he completed his studies at the HHU with the first state examination "with distinction" and became a research assistant at the history seminar. In the winter semester 1981/82 he received his doctorate “summa cum laude” with the support of his academic teacher Wolfgang J. Mommsen ; the title of his dissertation on the liberal politician Friedrich Naumann was "Social Liberalism and German World Politics".

From 1985 to 1990 Peter Theiner was in the Carl Duisberg Group (CDG / CDC), an organization for international professional training and personnel development, as head of department responsible for programs in cooperation with China, Iran and Egypt as well as the preparation of German executives abroad, finally as Deputy Head of Department for Corporate Communications. From 1991 to 1995 he was program director and member of the executive board of the Deutsche Management Akademie Niedersachsen gGmbH (DMAN), Celle , an organization for further training for managers from Central and Eastern European countries. In 1995 he became head of the international understanding France, USA, Central and Eastern Europe division of the Robert Bosch Stiftung , since 2000 director of the international understanding Western Europe, America, Turkey, Japan, India division, managing director of its subsidiary DVA-Stiftung , 2013–2016 division director history of philanthropy . Since 2008 he has been a lecturer in modern and contemporary history at the Historical Institute of the University of Stuttgart . His biography of the entrepreneur and founder Robert Bosch received a lot of attention.

Peter Theiner is married; he has two daughters with his wife.
