Peter Wasmund

Peter Wasmund (born August 5, 1586 in Neubrandenburg ; † July 2, 1632 in Rostock ) was a German lawyer and university professor.

Life

Peter Wasmund was a son of the Neubrandenburg businessman Nicolas Wasmund and his wife Catharina Mumm. He attended the Marienstiftsgymnasium in Stettin and studied from 1606 in Wittenberg , Frankfurt (Oder) , Rostock and Leipzig . In 1615 Wasmund was promoted to Dr. jur. PhD.

He married Christina Cothmann († 1656), a sister of Rostock professor Ernst Cothmann . Appointed assessor at the court and regional court in 1622, he received the professorship of his late brother-in-law Cothmann in 1625. In 1627 Duke Johann Albrecht appointed him to his council and ducal chancellery director in Güstrow . In 1631 Duke Adolph Friedrich made him his chancellor and office director in Schwerin , whereby Wasmund retained the professorship in Rostock.

Wasmund was elected rector of Rostock University during the summer semesters of 1628 and 1631.
