Peter Wilhelm Kallen (born March 11, 1910 in Neuss ; † January 4, 1979 ) was a German entrepreneur and politician. From 1961 to 1967 he was Lord Mayor of Neuss.

life and work

Kallen was born into a Catholic patrician family from Neuss. At the age of 18, he joined his father's company, the Kallen oil mill in Neuss. As a result, he founded several textile companies and from 1930 took a stake in the traditional tie factory Kamper & Weber in Neuss, which was founded in 1839 .

As a CDU member , Kallen was a city ​​councilor and mayor of Neuss from 1961 to 1967, after which he was mayor of the city until 1977. During his term of office in 1963, Neuss first had over 100,000 inhabitants. From 1968 to 1976 he was vice-president of the Bürger-Schützen-Verein and from 1970 to 1977 president of the Neuss Chamber of Commerce and Industry . His nephew was the later CEO of Hubert Burda Media Holding Paul-Bernhard Kallen .
