Michael Frings (Mayor)

Michael Frings (born January 23, 1795 in Neuss ; † December 28, 1872 ibid) was a Rhenish merchant and Prussian politician.

Life

Frings completed a commercial apprenticeship in his place of birth and then worked as a self-employed businessman. From 1824 to 1839 he owned a weaving mill in Neuss.

In 1830 Frings was first elected to the city council of Neuss, from 1846 to 1848 he was an alderman of the city administration.

After the outbreak of the March Revolution , Frings took part in the pre-parliament in Heidelberg . From October 17 to December 6, 1848, as the successor to Franz Xaver Dieringer, he represented the 35th constituency of the Rhine Province as a member of the Frankfurt National Assembly , where he belonged to the Augsburger Hof faction .

From 1851 to 1858 Frings was mayor of his hometown. From 1859 to 1861 he was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives , where he belonged to the Vincke faction .

Frings is the grandfather of the Archbishop of Cologne, Joseph Cardinal Frings and u. a. also of the Imperial Court Councilor Heinrich Frings and the Lord Mayor of Neuss, Alfons Frings .
