Peter from the race (* 4. September 1607 in Gdansk ; † 9. August 1669 ) was a German goldsmith from Gdansk, who now outstanding primarily for its two plants in the Gniezno Cathedral and the Wawel Cathedral in Krakow is known .

Life

His father Reinhard von der Rennen (* approx. 1565 in Linn ) emigrated to Danzig, where he became a master goldsmith in 1592 . His son and student Peter grew up in the city republic of Danzig, where he was strongly influenced by the stone and sculptor Wilhelm Richter , received his master craftsman's certificate as a goldsmith in 1636 and became a citizen in 1648 . He was best known for his two greatest works in the Arch-Cathedral of Gniezno and the Wawel Cathedral in Krakow . He made a significant contribution to the flourishing Gdańsk handicrafts at the end of the 17th century.
