Petr Novák (born June 18, 1982 in Karlsbad ) is a Czech cross-country skier .
Career
Novák has been taking part in competitions of the Fédération Internationale de Ski since 2001 . Since 2005 he has mainly competed in the Slavic Cup. He has taken five wins so far and finished second in the overall standings in the 2008/09 season. He ran his first World Cup race in February 2008 in Liberec , which he finished with 58th place in the 11.4 km freestyle. In February 2009 he won bronze in the relay and silver in the 30 km mass start race at the 2009 Winter Universiade in Yabuli . The first and so far only World Cup points he got in January 2010 in Otepää with the 23rd place over 15 km classic. His best placings at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2011 in Oslo were 50th place in the 30 km pursuit race and 13th place in the team sprint. At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , he reached 35th place in the 30 km skiathlon and 29th place in the 50 km mass start race.
Since 2007 Novák has also taken part in ski marathons. He won the Kangaroo Hoppet (2011), the Dolomitenlauf (2014), the Bieg Piastów (2013 and 2015), the Gsieser Tal-Lauf (2015 over 42 km classic) and the Vasaloppet China (2016 over 50 km classic). In the cross-country skiing marathon cup he took fourth place in 2013 and 2014 and first place in the overall ranking in 2015 .
