Gsieser valley run
The Gsieser-Tal-Lauf ( Italian Gran Fondo Val Casies ) is a cross-country ski run that takes place every year on the third weekend in February in the Gsieser Tal in South Tyrol . It is the largest winter mass sports event in South Tyrol and the second largest in Italy. The event has never been canceled since the first edition in 1984, which is unique in Europe. Every year around 2,300 people from over 35 nations take part.
procedure
The start and finish for the circuit from Gsieser Tal to Taisten is in St. Martin in Gsies , 1220 meters above sea level. The distances are 30 and 42 km (classic and skating ; each with a wave start ). It is also awarded according to age groups. There are 6 sprint ratings, 3 of them in classic style races and 3 in skating races. All races are counted for the Euroloppet series. The traditional “Mini-Gsieser” for children and young people also takes place on Saturday afternoon.
At the Gsieser-Tal-Lauf there is also a group “Just for Fun” for participants without sporting ambitions or without a rating who still want to enjoy the special flair of a marathon.
participation
Eligible are runners from the age of 16. For the 42 km races, participants must be 18 years of age. The participants start in four different start groups. A chip measures the running time. Each participant receives a participation diploma with a souvenir medal and a rich lunch. The entry fee is staggered according to deadlines.
