Alexei Alexandrowitsch Chervotkin ( Russian Алексей Александрович Червоткин ; English Alexey Chervotkin ; born April 30, 1995 in Sykowy ) is a Russian cross-country skier .

Career

Chervotkin won gold in the relay and bronze in the skiathlon at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2013 in Liberec and won the 15 km freestyle, 7.5 km classic and mixed relay at the subsequent European Youth Olympic Festival in Brașov . At the Junior World Championships in 2015 he won silver in the skiathlon and bronze with the relay and two years later he won the junior world championship in Almaty in the 10 km freestyle, in the skiathlon and with the relay. In the Eastern Europe Cup , Chervotkin achieved his first podium finish in February 2015 with third place over 15 km freestyle in Rybinsk and, at his first start in the cross-country skiing World Cup in March 2015, achieved the points with 22nd place over 15 km classic in Lahti . In January 2016 in Nové Město na Moravě he achieved his first podium finish in the World Cup with second place with the relay. At the U23 World Ski Championships in 2016 in Râşnov , he won the silver medal over 15 km classic. He also achieved 41st place in the sprint and fifth place over 15 km freestyle. In April 2016 he became the Russian champion over 50 km. At the beginning of the 2016/17 season he won his first victories in the Eastern Europe Cup in Werschina Tjoi in the sprint and 10 km freestyle. This was followed by second place in the relay at the World Cup in La Clusaz and in the sprint at the Eastern Europe Cup in Krasnogorsk . At the U23 World Ski Championships in 2017 in Soldier Hollow , he won silver medals in both skiathlon and over 15 km freestyle. He finished fourth in the sprint. At the season highlight of the Nordic World Ski Championships 2017 in Lahti, he won the silver medal with the relay. He also achieved 13th place in the 50 km mass start race. In March 2017, he finished second in the skiathlon at the Russian championships in Khanty-Mansiysk . He finished the season in fourth place in the overall ranking of the Eastern Europe Cup. After finishing fifth in the Ruka Triple at the beginning of the 2017/18 season, he finished ninth in the Tour de Ski 2017/18 with two top ten finishes . At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , he won the silver medal with the relay and also finished 12th in the 50 km mass start race. At the end of the season he came in 23rd place at the World Cup finals in Falun and finally reached 11th place in the overall World Cup and Distance World Cup and third place in the U23 World Cup.

After finishing 20th in the Lillehammer Triple at the beginning of the 2018/19 season, Tscherwotkin took third place in the Scandinavian Cup in Vuokatti over the 15 km classic and in the 30 km mass start race and won the Gsieser-Tal-Lauf . At the end of March 2019, he became the Russian skiathlon champion in Kononovskaya .
