Juan Jesús Gutiérrez (born June 26, 1969 in Reinosa ) is a former cross-country skier from Spain . After the native German Johann Mühlegg, he is the most successful Spanish cross-country skier.

Gutiérrez first attracted attention when he surprisingly ran into the top of the world at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1991 and finished ninth over 50 km. He was able to improve this result at the 1995 World Championships in Thunder Bay (Ontario) with sixth place - also over 50 km. In the World Cup , however, it took a few years before the Spaniard was able to show such performances. In 1999 he finished sixth in the traditional 50 km run around the Holmenkollen near Oslo , and in 2000 he achieved his only World Cup podium in the 72 km run by Lamoura Mouthe in France with third place. During his later athletic career, Gutiérrez focused on long distance races and popular cross-country runs. In January 2002 he won the Marcialonga . A month later he became the first Spaniard to win the Engadin Ski Marathon .

At Winter Olympics Juan Jesús Gutiérrez took part five times ( Albertville 1992 , Lillehammer 1994 , Nagano 1998 , Salt Lake City 2002 and Turin 2006 ). He achieved his best Olympic result with 17th place in the 30 km mass start race. In 2006 Gutiérrez finished his sporting career with a 22nd place in the 50 km cross-country skiing in Turin.
