Petra was the official mascot of the 1992 Summer Paralympics in Barcelona .

description

Petra was a stylized young runner who was missing both arms. She was presented in different clothing depending on the sport. The International Paralympic Committee describes Petra as a "positive, extroverted, independent, energetic and courageous girl with no arms".

Petra was designed by the Spanish designer Javier Mariscal , who also designed the mascot Cobi for the 1992 Summer Olympics . Like Cobi, Petra goes back to one of Mariscal's earlier comic characters. Petra was officially introduced as the mascot of the Paralympic Games in 1991.

Others

For her appearance at the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games at the Olympic Stadium in Barcelona , Petra was driven into the arena on a motorcycle. Petra was a passenger on a Montesa Cota 311 machine , which was piloted by the Catalan motorcycle trial pilot Gabino Renales Guerrero. The motorcycle is now part of the exhibition at the Museu de la Moto in Bassella .

In the 26-part animated series The Cobi Troupe , which was developed and broadcast in 1990 under the direction of Javier Mariscal, Petra was one of the main characters.
