Petra Ganglbauer (born April 16, 1958 in Graz ) is an Austrian author and radio artist.

Life

From 1976 to 1982 she studied English, German, history and media studies at the University of Graz . She began her literary career in Graz in 1982, initially as co-editor of the literary magazine Perspektive . After all, she was in the Gangan Verlag , founded by Gerald Ganglbauer and co-supervised by her from 1984 to 1989 , an author publisher for experimental literature, which mainly publishes books by contemporary Austrian authors (including Marc Adrian , Reinhold Aumaier , Peter Köck , Peter Pessl and Magdalena Sadlon ) published, active. In 1999 she moved from Graz to Vienna .

She is currently working as a freelance writer and "radio artist" in Vienna and publishes poetry , prose and essays . She also works with sound artists , such as Andrea Sodomka , or visual artists , such as Gertrude Moser-Wagner , and offers writing workshops. She has been the book editor at Gangway since 2000 and from 2009 to 2016 she headed the Professional Association of Austrian Writing Pedagogues (BOeS), where she taught from 2003 to 2016 as part of the Viennese writing pedagogy course.

From 2012 to 2016 she was the director of the “Viennese writing pedagogy” course. In 2012/2013 she was chairwoman of the association of women authors . From October 2013 to October 2019 she was President of the Graz Authors' Assembly .

Individual publications have been published by Milena Verlag (Vienna) and the edition The happy living room (Vienna), by Edition Art Science or Edition ch . In addition, radio plays and radio plays for ORF followed . She gave Viennese lectures on literature.

Since the 1990s she has published several audio pieces on ORF Kunstradio - Radiokunst , such as the trilogy Dislocation-Diffusion-Direction or, most recently, Ökotonal . Her radio play When the Voice Time Speaks was also published on ORF .

Her prizes and awards include the City of Graz Prize for Literature, the City of Vienna Prize for Literature and the Theodor Körner Prize and a grant from HALMA , the European network of literary centers. In 2018 she received the Veza Canetti Prize of the City of Vienna .
