description

From 1870 onwards, a total of 29 locomotives for the Pfalzbahn were manufactured by the mechanical engineering factory in Karlsruhe , which were stationed in Neustadt , among other places . Eight were built in 1870 and 21 between 1872 and 1875. The first series had an overhanging fire box with a flat lid of the Belpaire design . The second series, however, a fire box with a ceiling of the Crampton design . It also had other characteristics typical of machines from Karlsruhe . So the Stephenson control with pocket swing arm with interrupted center line and double inclination of the valve body. All machines were rebuilt in Ludwigshafen and Kaiserslautern. They got a larger wheelbase and a larger, assisted fire box. In addition, the top speed was increased to 75 km / h. The locomotives were equipped with type 2 T 7 tenders .

Most of the locomotives were retired at the beginning of the 20th century. The number 34 7401 and 34 7402 were planned by the Reichsbahn for two copies, but they were no longer taken over and retired in 1923.
