The Pfaffenberg is a 432 meter high mountain in the Bavarian Spessart in the districts of Aschaffenburg and Miltenberg .

geography

The Pfaffenberg lies within the boundaries of the municipalities of Bessenbach and Sulzbach am Main . The district boundary runs directly over the summit. In the northeast is the place Oberbessenbach in the valley of the Bessenbach and in the southwest is the village of Soden in the valley of the Soden stream . To the northwest are Gailbach and Dörrmorsbach . The district of the city ​​of Aschaffenburg extends almost to the summit. About 2.0 km to the south-east is the mountain Hohe Wart in a community-free area , on which a popular excursion destination, the Gasthaus Hohe Wart is located.

Pfaffenberg transmitter

The Pfaffenberg transmitter of the Bavarian radio station has been on the Pfaffenberg since 1953. It is a 181 meter high guyed tubular steel mast. In 2008 a second, slightly lower mast was erected for DVB-T reception. On April 16, 2009 the old tubular mast was blown up. The now stand-alone new concrete tower is 176.05 m high from the top of the floor.
