history

A chapel was mentioned in a document in 1668. The church was a branch of the Elbigenalp parish church and was elevated to an expositur in 1789. The current church was built between 1790 and 1792. The tower was built in 1807. The church was consecrated in 1811. In 1832 there was a restoration. The tower clock is from 1854. After an earthquake (1865) repairs were carried out. In 1943 the church was elevated to a parish church.

architecture

The church is a simple, uniformly classical building with a high pitched roof. The nave with arched windows shows the wall painting St. Christophorus by Toni Kirchmayr . The drafted choir has a three-eighth closing. The tower to the south of the choir has arched sound windows on the upper floor with chamfered corners and an onion dome.

The hall space of the nave under a flat needle cap barrel vault has no wall structures. The choir shows painted wall structures with pilasters and a strongly profiled cornice with a tooth cut and egg bar frieze. The frescoes by Karl Selb from 1792 were painted over by Johann Kärle . The frescoes by Kärle were painted over by Toni Kirchmayr in 1929. The frescoes of Toni Kirchmayr showed in the choir vault of the Assumption , the chancel arch of the Annunciation , in the nave vault of the Visitation and the Nativity , the Presentation of the Lord, the twelve year old Jesus in the temple and the organ loft an angel concert. From 1991 to 1994 the church was re-baroque, while Wolfram Köberl painted over Toni Kirchmayr's work with new frescoes.

Furnishing

The neo-Gothic high altar bears the figures of Notburga and Isidor and in the gable Nikolaus with angels by the sculptor Josef Klemens Witwer (1792).

War memorial

The painter Ernst Degn designed the war memorial in front of the church .
