The Roman Catholic parish church Großebersdorf stands elevated on the church hill in the northwest of the municipality Großebersdorf in the Mistelbach district in Lower Austria . It is consecrated to St. Nicholas and belongs to the Wolkersdorf deanery in the vicariate Unter dem Manhartsberg of the Archdiocese of Vienna . The building is a listed building .

history

The Gothic choir was built in the early 15th century and the south tower was built around 1400. Mid-13th century, the church received the Vicariate . A parish was first mentioned in a document in the 14th century. In 1789 it was finally detached from the mother parish, the parish Niederhollabrunn .

The church is a baroque hall with a Gothic choir and south tower. The nave was built in the 18th century and has moved south from the axis of the choir. In 1908 it was extended by two yokes to the west. The facade is uniformly structured with pilaster strips . The western facade ends at the top in a curved gable . To the south of the nave is a baroque porch with a curved gable. The choir with a 5/8 end is structured by buttresses and broken up by arched windows. The easternmost window is walled up. Like the facade, the church tower south of the nave is also structured by pilaster strips. Gothic slit windows can be seen in the basement. The sound windows are rounded. The tower is crowned by a pyramid helmet. The sacristy annex adjoins the church to the north .

The nave from the 18th century is vaulted with a needle cap and is located between double chord arches . These in turn rest on double pilasters . In the west of the nave is a three - aisled organ loft vaulted with a groin. A drawn-round-arched triumphal arch separates the nave from the choir einjochigen, the rib-vaulted is. The keystones are carved. One sculpture depicts the head of Christ, the other rosettes . Two console stones have leaf decoration, the ogival sacraments niche is decorated with tracery . In the south wall of the choir is a portal with a shoulder arch portal that leads to the ribbed vaulted tower ground floor.

The high altar is a picture frame retable from around 1800. The altar sheet shows St. Nicholas. On the left side altar there is a crucifix , on the right a statue of the Madonna. Both stand in front of a cartouche-shaped wall paneling made of stucco marble from around 1750. The baroque pulpit was built in the middle of the 18th century. There are carved figures of the church fathers on the basket and the sound cover . In the choir are baroque console figures of St. Leopold and St. Florian from the middle of the 18th century. In the organ gallery there are figures of St. Roch and St. Sebastian from the beginning of the 18th century. The baptismal font with a baroque carving depicting the "Baptism of Jesus" was created in 1669.
