The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Marienkirchen an der Polsenz is located in St. Marienkirchen an der Polsenz in the market town of St. Marienkirchen an der Polsenz in the Eferding district in Upper Austria . The church, consecrated on the Assumption of Mary ( August 15 ) - incorporated into St. Florian Monastery - belongs to the Eferding dean's office in the Linz diocese . The church is a listed building .
history
A church was mentioned in a document in 1151. The Gothic church building has a choir from the 15th century and a nave from the mid-16th century.
architecture
The church, which is essentially Gothic, appears to have been modified by numerous additions. The retracted two-bay choir with a ribbed vault has a five-eighth end . The three - aisled, three - bay nave of a staggered church has a mesh rib vault, whereby the yoke axes in the central nave and in the narrow side aisles are shifted by half a bay width against each other, whereby the central nave pillars lie in the axis of the nave windows, which furthermore due to the large span of the almost semicircular arch between the Ships create a spacious impression. The Gothic tower in the northern corner of the choir with a star-rib vaulted bell chamber was expanded in the Baroque style in 1721 , whereby the unusual shape of the helmet was attributed to Jakob Prandtauer .
Furnishing
The furnishings are neo-Gothic (1871). The late Gothic crucifix in the confessional chapel was made around 1530. The Mount of Olives group in the western vestibule is baroque.
