Phenthoat is a 1: 1 mixture ( racemate ) of two isomeric chemical compounds from the group of thiophosphoric acid esters and an insecticide and acaricide introduced by Montecatini (now Isagro ) in 1961 .

Extraction and presentation

Phenthoate can be obtained by reacting α-phenyl-α-bromoethyl acetate with dimethyldithiophosphoric acid (DMPA).

use

Phenthoat (trade names Cidial , Elsan , Papthion ) has been used as a non-systemic insecticide and acaricide with contact and feeding effects. Like all organophosphates, it works by inhibiting acetylcholinesterase in the insect's nervous system. Phenthoat has a broad spectrum of activity.

Admission
