Philip Davis (actor)

Philip Davis (born July 30, 1953 in Grays ) is an English actor, director , composer and screenwriter.

Life

Davis grew up in Thurrock, Essex with his two brothers. His father worked for the Procter and Gamble soap factory while his mother was a cleaning lady. At the age of eight he became interested in acting. Davis attended the Ockendon Courts Secondary Modern School. He says that he was having a hard time teaching him at the time and that he may have suffered from ADHD . However, he flourished in school theater and knew very early on that he wanted to turn acting into a profession. Davis got his first professional acting job as a teenager at the National Youth Theater. A little later he got a place at Joan Littlewood's Theater Workshop at the Stratford East Theater. Davis made a career in the theater in the 1970s and appeared in a number of films and television series. During his early days as an actor, Davis earned relatively little and had a harder time keeping afloat financially. However, he was so fascinated by acting that he didn't mind. In 1980 he got a role in the television series The Studio , which paid a little better and from then on things went up financially. In 1984 he was able to buy his first own apartment. Many other films and television productions followed. Davis has a daughter with actress Eve Matheson and a son from a previous relationship.
