Philipp Casimir Schlosser

Philipp Casimir Schlosser (born October 19, 1658 in Darmstadt , † July 1, 1712 in Marburg ) was a German Protestant theologian , clergyman and university professor .

Life

Schlosser came from a pastor's family. Both his father Johann Philipp Schlosser and his grandfather Johannes Schlosser were court preachers . He first attended the pedagogy in Darmstadt and in 1675 went to the University of Heidelberg . In 1676 he moved to the University of Giessen . There he obtained a master's degree in theology on May 15, 1679 . He also earned a doctorate in theology there . He then became a private tutor at the court in Darmstadt . He was responsible for educating the princes.

After working at the court, on October 31, 1686, Schlosser was given a full professorship in logic and metaphysics at the University of Giessen. He held this until 1695, when he was dismissed from the theological faculty due to a conflict, along with three other colleagues. The following year, on March 30, 1696, he became pastor in St. Goar . He was also an inspector of the Lutheran churches and schools in the Lower County of Katzenelnbogen .

Schlosser moved to Marburg in 1706 . There he was appointed superintendent and consistorial councilor. He also held regular philosophical lectures at the University of Marburg until his death in 1712.

He is the brother of Ludwig Heinrich Schlosser and the father of Johann Ludwig Schlosser .
