Philipp Jacob Borel (born May 2, 1715 in Marburg , † December 24 , deviating December 23, 1760 ibid) was a German doctor and university professor .

Life

Philipp Jacob Borel was the son of Jean Borel (born December 22, 1684 in Fenestrelles ( Dauphiné ), † January 12, 1747), doctor and professor for medicine and experimental physics at the University of Marburg.

He studied medicine at the University of Marburg and worked in various field hospitals on the Rhine in 1735 ; In 1736 he continued his studies at the University of Strasbourg .

In 1737 he received his doctorate from the University of Marburg. med.

On August 3, 1742, he asked for the position as associate professor of medicine at the University of Marburg and held his inaugural lecture on October 25, 1742. He was appointed full professor of medicine at the University of Marburg on January 10, 1749; on December 15, 1759 he was appointed city and country physicist and garrison medic in addition to his teaching activities . In his lectures he covered the subjects of anatomy , surgery , pathology , physiology , obstetrics , the history of medicine , pharmacology and botany , chemistry and physics .

In the years 1750, 1752, 1754, 1756, 1758 and 1760 he was the dean of the medical faculty and in 1753 the prorector of the University of Marburg.

Philipp Jacob Borel was married. His daughter later married the lawyer and associate professor at the University of Marburg, Philipp Friedrich Ulrich (1745-1820); their son was the later private lecturer Ludwig Jacob Ulrich (1781-1812).
