Justin Gerhard Duising

Justin Gerhard Duising (born May 4, 1705 in Berleburg ; † February 13, 1761 in Marburg ) was a German doctor and university professor .

Life

Justin Gerhard Duising was the son of Gerhard Duising, Wittgenstein Councilor and Oberamtmann .

He enrolled at the University of Jena in 1724 and attended lectures, among others, with Georg Erhard Hamberger . On May 22, 1728 , he received his doctorate as Dr. med. and worked briefly as a doctor in Hersfeld .

From 1729 to 1730 he stayed for further studies at the University of Strasbourg before he was appointed Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Marburg on October 19, 1730 . On August 3, 1732 he was appointed third full professor, especially for anatomy , surgery and midwifery ; He gave his inaugural lecture on December 16, 1734.

On December 24, 1748, at his request, he was appointed professor of medicine and experimental physics from the late Professor Jean Borel (1684–1747). When he was appointed Professor of Experimental Physics, he belonged to the Faculty of Medicine as well as the Faculty of Philosophy ; he was appointed First Professor on June 13, 1758.

In 1756 he became the personal physician of Count Johann Ludwig zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Hohenstein .

From 1757 to 1759 he was a deputy of the University of Marburg at the state parliaments in Kassel .

In the period from 1733 to 1761 Justin Gerhard Duising was dean of the medical faculty for sixteen years and dean of the faculty of philosophy in two years and vice-rector of the university in five years .

As a physician, he read about almost all areas, but since 1748 has mainly restricted himself to internal medicine , forensic medicine and chemistry .

Justin Gerhard Duising was married. His daughter Elisabeth Christina Lubecca (* unknown; † 1791) was married to the university professor Johann Franz Coing .
