Philipp Roeder von Diersburg

Philipp Wilhelm Friedrich Karl Freiherr Roeder of Diersburg (* 3. July 1801 in Lahr , † 27. July 1864 in Lichtenthal ) was a Grand Duchy of Baden Lieutenant General and writers from the House of Roeder of Diersburg .

Military background

Roeder joined the body grenadier guard as a Junker in 1816 and, after graduating from the General War School in Berlin, joined the Adjutantur General and, after its abolition, joined the General Staff . In these positions he was particularly interested in military education, and from 1840 to 1844 he was chairman of the military study commission.

In 1844 he returned to active military service and in 1848, as a colonel, led the Baden field brigade, which was destined to fight in the German-Danish War , to the Elbe duchies. Before she could take part in the fight, however, the peace of Malmo came .

From 1852 to 1856 Roeder commanded the Baden infantry division of the Baden Army as Lieutenant General and retired in 1859 as Commandant of Rastatt .

family

Roeder was married to Adelheid Friederike Baur von Eysseneck (1806–1886). The marriage resulted in five sons, all of whom had military careers. Three of them achieved the rank of general:
