Philippe Soirat

Philippe Soirat (born March 11, 1961 in Menton ) is a French jazz musician ( drums ).

Live and act

Soirat initially dealt with the drums as an autodidact . Then he studied both at the Monaco Conservatory and at the Center for Contemporary Music in Nice. In 1986 he moved to Paris, where he worked with musicians such as Barney Wilen , Ricky Ford , Yannick Rieu, Lionel and Stéphane Belmondo , Ray Brown , Laurent de Wilde , Johnny Griffin , Dee Dee Bridgewater , Mark Turner , Phil Woods and Steve Grossman . With his quartet, to which the saxophonist David Prez, the pianist Vincent Bourgeyx and the bassistYoni Zelnik , he released a first album under his own name in 2015, which was followed by a second album with the same line-up in 2019. He can be heard on almost 70 albums, including records by Pierre-Yves Sorin ( Parfums de Contrebasse ), Mathias Allamane / Barry Harris , François Théberge , Gaël Horellou , Laurence Allison, Laurent Coq , the Dal Sasso / Belmondo Big Band and by Samy Thiébault.
