Pia Laus-Schneider
Pia Laus-Schneider , née Pia Laus (born May 2, 1968 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German-Italian dressage rider who competes for Italy. She took part in three Olympic Games.
Career
Laus-Schneider was born in 1968. As the daughter of a German mother and an Italian father, she had two nationalities from birth.
Pia Laus-Schneider lived in Wetter (Ruhr) for a long time . Here she went to school and graduated from high school. From 1988 she studied at the Ruhr University Bochum , and passed her second state law examination in June 1997. As a result, she worked for a law firm in Hagen .
Until 1990, Laus-Schneider successfully competed in dressage tests for Germany, including three European Young Riders Championships, where she was twice individual European champion in her age group. In 1990, for the sake of her father, she changed nationality and started playing for Italy from then on. In the same year she took part in the first World Equestrian Games, followed by further championships and three Olympic participations in 1992, 1996 and 2000. During this time she was trained by Uwe Schulten-Baumer for a longer period of time .
From 2003 she was the elected spokesperson and FEI representative for dressage riders.
She is married to the show jumper Ralf Schneider (former Nations Cup rider ) and has three children. After moving to the family facility in Klockenhagen ( Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania ), she started working for the Wöpkendorf equestrian community in 2009 . In the same year she started again for the first time in years in dressage tests at Grand Prix level. Starting in the summer of 2012, there were also starts in international Grand Prix tests with Worcester . With the gelding Shadow , she was able to regularly achieve results above 70 percent from summer 2016. In June 2017 she was ranked 73rd in the world with Shadow , making her the best-placed Italian.
