history

The place emerged as a colony around 1600.

The place was mentioned in 1783 in the book Entries describing Silesia as Pütkau and Pickau , belonged to a Mr. Baron von Grutschreiber and was in the district of Cosel , before that to the Oberglogau district, and had 88 inhabitants, a manorial farm, a mill and some gardeners. In 1865 “Pickau” had a watermill, a Kretscham (restaurant), twelve gardener positions and four cottages, the school was in Potzenkarb.

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 31 eligible voters voted for Upper Silesia to remain with Germany and 51 for membership in Poland. Pickau remained with the German Empire after the division of Upper Silesia . Until 1945 the place was in the district of Cosel .

In 1945 the formerly German town came under Polish administration and was then attached to the Silesian Voivodeship and renamed the Polish Bytków . The district of Cosel was renamed Powiat Kozielski. In 1950 the place came to the Opole Voivodeship . In 1975 the powiat Kozielski was dissolved. In 1999 the place came to the newly founded Powiat Kędzierzyńsko-Kozielski . On October 26, 2006, German was introduced as the second official language in the Reinschdorf community. On January 11, 2011, the place was also given the official German place name Pickau .
