Potzenkarb (Polish: Pociękarb ) is a village in Upper Silesia . It is located in the municipality of Reinschdorf in the powiat Kędzierzyńsko-Kozielski (Kandrzin-Cosel district) in the Opole Voivodeship .

Potzenkarb is located around four kilometers west of the Reinschdorf municipal seat, ten kilometers southwest of the district town of Kędzierzyn-Koźle ( Kandrzin-Cosel ) and 41 kilometers south of the voivodeship capital Opole .
history
The place originated in the 16th century at the latest and was first mentioned in 1532 as "Potikarw".
The place was mentioned in 1783 in the book Beytrage for the description of Silesia as Potschenkarb , Poczkarbe , Pociekarb and Potzenkarb , belonged to a Baron von Grutschreiber and was in the district of Cosel and had 131 inhabitants, a manorial farm, a mill, ten gardeners and 18 cottagers. There was also a newly built settlement called Juliusburg. In 1865 Potzenkarb had ten gardeners and five cottages, as well as a wooden Catholic school founded in 1841.
In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 88 eligible voters voted for Upper Silesia to remain with Germany and 33 for membership in Poland. Potzenkarb stayed with the German Empire after the division of Upper Silesia . In 1931 a new school building was built. On June 12, 1936 the place was renamed Rodemark in the course of a wave of renaming of places during the Nazi era . Until 1945 the place was in the district of Cosel .
In 1945 the formerly German town came under Polish administration and was then joined to the Silesian Voivodeship and renamed the Polish Pociękarb . The district of Cosel was renamed Powiat Kozielski. In 1950 the place came to the Opole Voivodeship . In 1975 the powiat Kozielski was dissolved. In 1999 the place came to the newly founded Powiat Kędzierzyńsko-Kozielski . On October 26, 2006, German was introduced as the second official language in the Reinschdorf community. On January 11, 2011, the place was also given the official German place name Potzenkarb .
