Reinschdorf ( Polish Reńska Wieś ) is a village in the powiat Kędzierzyńsko-Kozielski in the Opole Voivodeship . Reinschdorf has around 1,800 inhabitants and is the seat of the community of Reinschdorf with around 8,500 inhabitants.

geography

Reinschdorf is located in southern Poland, in Upper Silesia, 40 kilometers southeast of Opole and southwest of the district town of Kędzierzyn-Koźle , from whose sub-town Koźle it is only 2 kilometers away. Reinschdorf is connected to two Polish state roads to the Czech Republic: The DK45 and the DK38 , which branches off from the DK45 to the southwest. The local train station on the Kędzierzyn-Koźle-Baborów railway line has been closed, as is the line, but there is still a stop on the Katowice – Legnica railway line in the Nesselwitz district .

history

Rinska has been handed down as a place name for the year 1532 .

The place experienced an upswing in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Reinschdorf was located on the Chaussee from Leobschütz to the city of Cosel , whose Oder port developed into one of the largest inland ports in the German Empire. In 1864, beet sugar dyeing with two steam engines was set up in Reinschdorf. The connection to the railway network followed in 1882. After being damaged by the floods of the Oder in 1997, the Cosel – Bauerwitz line was no longer repaired and partially dismantled.

Reinschdorf had belonged to Prussia since 1742 and was assigned to the Cosel district in 1816 . Ecclesiastically, the place belonged to the parish of St. Sigismund zu Cosel until its own parish was founded in 1928. In 1861 a neo-Gothic chapel was built in the village. However, the place only received its own church in the years 1924 to 1926. The current parish church of St. Urban was rebuilt between 1979 and 1980.

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 940 votes (87.6%) were cast in Reinschdorf to remain with Germany, 133 votes were in favor of joining Poland. As a result, the village remained in the Weimar Republic .

After the Second World War, the place fell to Poland as Reńska Wieś in 1945 and has been the seat of the municipality since 1973.

Since not all German residents fled or were expelled, a German minority was able to survive in the area . The municipality of Reinschdorf has been officially bilingual (German and Polish) since 2006. According to the last census in Poland in 2002, 34.93% of the population are German, another 2.58% described themselves as " Silesians " and 5.9% did not provide any information about their nationality. On January 11, 2011, the municipality also introduced official German place names.
