history
The place was first mentioned in a document on March 16, 1411. The first names to appear for the settlement include Komorno, Komorrno, Comorno and Commerau. Komorno was the site of historical events several times during the Silesian (1740–1763) and coalition wars .
During the siege of the Prussian fortress Cosel , for example, the troops of the Austrian imperial military leader Ernst Gideon Freiherr von Laudon camped in Komorno.
In 1817, on January 2nd near Komorno, there was a skirmish between Prussian and Bavarian soldiers who were allies of Napoleon. The Bavarians won the battle that went down in history as the " Battle of Komorno ".
Furthermore, a squadron of Bavaria attacked parts of a Prussian battalion that was on the road between Komorno and Poborschau on the way to Cosel. The surprise attack succeeded, they brought 143 men and two cannons into their power.
The Komorno manor house, which was built in 1760, houses the Bavarian Lieutenant General Bernhard Erasmus von Deroy , who commanded the siege of the Cosel Fortress, from late January to early March in 1807 . When the siege was lifted on July 9, 1807 with the Tilsit Peace Treaty , Major General Clemens von Raglovich moved into the manor house as Deroy's successor .
On March 30 of the same year, Colonel Phillip von Bieringer , the then commander of the Royal Bavarian 5th Infantry Regiment Preysing, died in Komorno .
Komorno was renamed Altenwall in 1936 under the Nazi regime . When the Red Army took the place in 1945, the renaming was revised.
On January 11, 2011, Komorno also became the German official name.
