Pier Felice Barchi (born May 11, 1929 in Bellinzona ; † August 19, 2018 in Manno ; entitled to live in Arosio ) was a Swiss politician ( FDP ). He was a member of the National Council from 1971 to 1983 .

Life

Pier Felice in Basel , Vienna , Turin and Bern Law studied. In 1953 he received his doctorate. He then opened a law firm with colleagues in Lugano and Bellinzona.

From 1959 he was elected to the Ticino Grand Council , in which his two grandfathers had already taken a seat for the historical opponents of Ticino history , namely the FDP and the CVP . In the Grand Council he was also the FDP parliamentary group president at times. He remained its member until 1975.

In 1971 Barchi was elected to the National Council. There he was vice president of the FDP parliamentary group. Barchi was seen as a progressive liberal who later moved closer to the legal freedom that dominated in German-speaking Switzerland. His resignation as a National Councilor in 1983 was justified by the fact that his mediating position in the disputes between the conservative freedom of law and the social-liberal wing could not prevail. Other reasons given were work overload and family reasons. Nevertheless, the Ticino FDP ported him with 119 votes with only four abstentions in 1983 as a candidate for the successor to the resigned Federal Councilor Georges-André Chevallaz . In the election , however, the official candidate of the FDP parliamentary group, Jean-Pascal Delamuraz , prevailed. Barchi received 19 votes.

Barchi was also vice president of the FDP Switzerland. From 1978 to 1988 he chaired the FDP Ticino. He was also a member of the board of directors of several companies , including Swissair .
