Blank & Jones are a DJ - and producer - duo in the field Uplifting Trance and Dance in Cologne .

biography

The team consists of Piet Blank (born June 15, 1971 ), Jaspa Jones (born June 27, 1968 , real name Rene Runge) and Andreas Kaufhold (born December 17, 1969 ), who works in the background. Blank and Jones got their first DJ experience as a teenager. Their music ranges from lounge and chill-out music to dance.

Some of the first music releases were made under the band name Gorgeous with titles such as “Don't Stop” (1996) and “Love Sensation” (1998).

After a few more successful singles under the band name Blank & Jones, the debut album followed in 1999 and the success continued. Her best-of album The Singles contains 22 pieces of music, including Somebody and Catch . The single Catch was created based on the song of the same name by the group Kosheen ( 1998 ). Elles de Graaf can be heard on the song . The music video for this single was shot by Conchita Soares and Toni Froschhammer , and Nadine Warmuth (from the series Hinter Gittern - Der Frauenknast ) plays the leading role .

Since 2003 they have been releasing chill-out albums with the Relax series, which are characterized by relaxed ambient sounds. The series regularly celebrates chart success.

Since 2009 they have been putting together remix albums and CD compilations by successful artists from the 1980s for the EMI label within the So80s series . Within this series, they also produced the single Maybe Tonight with Sandra in 2012 . From 2012 the concept was transferred to music of the 1990s and continued under the title So90s .

Blank & Jones sold more than 2 million records worldwide.

Piet Blank notes for Lufthansa regularly changing club mix together (Channel 6), which is available on all Lufthansa long-haul flights, part of the onboard entertainment program.

In 2015, Blank & Jones took part as sponsors in the composer competition Dein Song on the TV channel KiKA .

From August 18 to 20, 2016, Blank and Jones staged the SilentMOD show within the Cologne Cathedral as part of the Gamescom computer game fair, where scents and a laser show were used with ambient sounds. The cathedral was opened between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. especially for the show. It is estimated that the cathedral was visited by around 12,000 people each evening. The visitors had to queue up to two and a half hours in front of the cathedral. Entry was free.

Blank & Jones organize the Seaside Season event party twice a year in the Norderneyer Milchbar, which plays its music every evening at sunset. They enjoy cult status on the East Frisian island. In the thriller "Die Schatten von Norderney" by Christian Hardinghaus , released in 2019, Blank & Jones play a leading role. Her songs "Relax your Mind" and "Happiness" help the fictional, investigative Norderneyer inspector Carsten Kummer to solve a mysterious series of murders.

Radio broadcasts

Blank & Jones have various radio shows that are broadcast on N-Joy and Di.Fm respectively.

The 'Pleasure Mix', in which Blank & Jones present the latest tracks from the areas of uplifting trance, dance and techno, runs monthly on Tues-Fm and is also streamed on the Soundcloud channel by Blank & Jones.

In 'The Lounge' radio show, which is designed by Piet Blank and broadcast by both channels, the weekly focus is on the chill-out and lounge area. The latest tracks from Chill Out, Lounge, Ambient and Light Jazz are presented.

Every second Thursday of the month there is also a two-hour show on sunshine live .

In the past, Blank & Jones could also be heard on 1Live on Saturday evenings in the Partyservice program throughout North Rhine-Westphalia. This show was stopped in 2004, because Blank & Jones wanted to devote more of their international DJ career.
