Pietro Antonio Zorzi
Pietro Antonio Zorzi CRS (born November 7, 1745 in Novigrad , † December 17, 1803 in Udine ) was Archbishop of Udine and cardinal .
Life
Zorzi, who came from an aristocratic Venetian family, joined in 1764 the Somaskerorden at and received on 17 December 1768 in Verona , the ordination . In 1774 he became rector of the Collegio dei Nobili in Brescia , and later held the same position in Venice .
Pope Pius VI appointed him on the proposal of the Venetian Senate on April 3, 1786 Bishop of Ceneda . The episcopal ordination received Zorzi on April 17 of that year in Rome by Cardinal Carlo Rezzonico . On September 24, 1792 Pius VI appointed him. as Archbishop of Udine after the Doge of Venice , Ludovico Manin , had proposed him for this office a month earlier.
Pope Pius VII accepted him into the College of Cardinals in the consistory of January 17, 1803 . Cardinal Zorzi died that same year before the Pope could assign him his titular church.
